Need a hand?

Answers to the common stuff below. Anything else — email [email protected] and a human (specifically: the human who built it) will get back to you.

Saving recipes

A recipe saved wrong — wrong quantities, weird steps.

It happens with unusual page layouts. Open the recipe → Report an error, and it’ll be fixed. You can also edit any recipe yourself.

Can I save from Instagram / TikTok?

Yes — tap Share on the post and choose RustleUp. If the post links out to a recipe page, we’ll save from there.

Can I save my own / family recipes?

Yes — photograph the card or page, or type it in. Handwriting works surprisingly well.

What does a save cost?

Free plan: 3 saves a month, and previews are always free — you’re only charged a credit when you actually keep a recipe. You can earn extra saves in the app.

Planning & shopping

How does the shopping list know what I have?

Keep your pantry up to date and RustleUp separates out what you already own when it builds the list.

Can I change units?

Yes — metric or imperial in Preferences. Spoons stay spoons: nobody measures 15ml of olive oil.

Can I scale a recipe?

Change the servings on any recipe or any planned meal — quantities and the shopping list follow.

Account & subscription

How do I cancel?

Through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — takes effect at the end of the paid period. No dark patterns, no “call us to cancel”.

How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?

Sign in, then Settings → Restore purchases.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Account → Delete account. Or from the web: delete your account here. It’s permanent and removes your synced data.

Data & privacy

Where’s my data?

Encrypted on your device, synced to your account so your phone and tablet agree. Never sold, never used for ads. Full detail: rustleup.xyz/privacy.

Does the AI train on my recipes?

Not by us. We never use your recipes to train our own models, and our AI routing account is configured to exclude providers that train on what we send; the one direct provider call we make (OpenAI, for ingredient-name search embeddings) does not train on API content by default. We can’t warrant what every model provider does internally, and requests aren’t zero-retention — full detail in rustleup.xyz/privacy.
